So I have to close and open new every window. The browserhistory must be 1 step (in chrome) to be able to use window.close(), if you open another window, then you have 2 steps, it will not work anymore. I have the same problem, the browser does not allow to close the tab, but I fixed it for me (12th of June 2021).
